This course is ideal for all heritage professionals interested in developing knowledge and skills in sustainability to implement in their workplace or practice. The course will begin with an introduction to sustainability (What does it actually mean?), the UN Sustainable Development Goals and sustainability in the heritage sector. We will then focus on carbon equivalent emissions and why they're important for everyone to consider regardless of role. We will build on that understanding through an exercise in carbon footprinting. In the afternoon, you will be guided through a reflection exercise to determine: where in your own practice you're doing well regarding sustainability, where you think it could be better, and where the sticking points or hurdles lie followed by tips for sustainability in heritage. We will finish with a practical workshop guding you through the process of crafting a sustainability action plan from ideas generation to finished plan. You will also benefit from the informal exchange of viewpoints and experience with other partcipants, and a resource list to take away as progress on a sustainable future hinges on partnership and continued action for a common goal.
