It was recently announced that in celebration of the centenary of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, Her Majesty The Queen has championed an initiative to establish a modern-day miniature library.
Leading writers, illustrators and binders have been commissioned by Royal Collection Trust to contribute their own miniature manuscripts – penned and decorated by hand - as a mirror to the books collected 100 years ago.
Among the talented binders contributing to this collection is West Dean short course tutor Rachel Ward-Sale, who was asked to bind a handwritten copy of Poems by Sir Ben Okri. The book is beautifully bound in printed and dyed leather with gilded leather inlays.
This new selection of miniature books provides a snapshot of contemporary literature in Britain, and will be on display adjacent to the Dolls’ House throughout 2024 at Windsor Castle.
